Us For A While

I don’t think or talk much about commitment but it feels extremely empowering to have a person that’s for you. A face to constantly look at without embarrassing yourself, a body that’s as much yours as theirs. When they feel beautiful you feel beautiful, when they feel strong you feel strong. It’s like seeing yourself in front of you, this whole human that is you. And you sometimes work dedicatedly for their good, but it’s very satisfying. Someone who likes things you don’t like or vice versa, but somehow there is no conflict. Two different colors in a jar, visibly distinct to the world but you can’t notice the difference. And sometimes I start thinking about love, and all the power it has. And then I think about two people as two souls that find home in one another for as long as it feels like home.
